Tobin Florio, born in London 1976 into a family of artists, spent his childhood and his first two years of art school in Suffolk
before returning to London to attend the London College of Printing. After which he moved on to study a degree in Visual Communication
at the University of Central England, where he specialised in animation whilst working as a free-lance illustrator.
For the next three years he worked for a design company in Farringdon, London, continuing to focus his time on web design, online publishing, animation and illustration until he realised that this alone was not a satisfying outlet for his creativity.
Having been absorbed in the world of animation and computer based graphics for a long period, Tobin Florio has only recently
returned to painting, in which the movement and story telling elements of his background in animation and the colour and composition of his previous work in painting
and photography have come together to capture the atmosphere of memorable moments and emotions.
He sees his work as being at a very early stage, with every piece representing an experimental expression, moving quickly from one piece to the next.
Tobin Florio's Italian roots played a role in his move to Italy, where he lived and worked for 2 years before the roof of his studio fell through and la polizia kicked him out of his home (nb. not his fault, shady landlady!)
He is currently back in the UK, living and working in Norwich.
