It was bound to happen, I'd drawn on everything else I could find, it was only so long before I'd start on myself.
I took a lot of care with these, obviously, though my mum still thinks they look like dirt. |

This tattoo shows influences of my early fascination with M.C.Escher, and my preference for tribal and celtic style
tattoo designs. The two figures represent my star sign, Gemini, spinning through the ups and downs of life, centered around the latter half of the uplifting quote "We are all in the gutter, but ...some of us are looking at the stars." Oscar Wilde.

I love using text in my paintings and drawings, but I don't always want my message or thoughts to be so prominent
as to dictate to the viewer what their perception of the work should be, and words have a way of doing that.
Other times I just don't want people to know what it's all about, because I've used the moment to let out a
stream of consciousness. So I write in codes, using numbers and letters. I merge the text together into more
organic looking symbols or patterns, and change the words into abstract decoration.
This tattoo, only I can read, and it makes me smile! |
